Paranorman in the Windows!

As you know from previous posts, I hate going to the movies.  (read more about that here) But I do really like the Loews Movie Theater near Lincoln Center, because they always have some interesting artifact in the window from the making of the latest movie showing there.  In this case, a few months ago, they had the dolls that were used in the  making of the stop motion animation ParaNorman movie.  To give you a sense of scale, each one of those characters is about as tall as my forearm, if not smaller.  The detail is amazing, and it is invigorating to know that this intricate art of stop motion animation is still alive and well.  I was happy to have this little window (pun not intended) into the world of the making of one.

MVRDV Brabant Library

The music is a bit scary, but this is really cool.

The animation of the never realised plan for a central library for the Dutch province of Brabant. The project ran from 2000 - 2001 and is published in KM3 (Actar, Barcelona) and of course on the MVRDV website.

Library Site Sun Study

A study of the position of the sun on the corner of 23rd St and 10th Ave in Manhattan, the site for the library I'm designing in school. The smaller pauses are on every hour from 9am to 5pm. Where you see a more drastic change in the lighting is where it is switching seasons. First is winter, then Spring, Summer, and last is Autumn. Made using Google SketchUp.

(See that floating cylinder and odd looking swirling ramps? Yeah, um that's the beginning of the library. Well, you'll just have to check back in 5 weeks to see how it turns out. I still have no idea myself.)

City in the Park

This is an animation I made in college. It is set in Fort Tryon Park,
my favorite park in Manhattan.

In case you're wondering, this was made with my Canon G7 camera
and 3d Studio Max. The music comes from Ansiform, an internet
based ambient music collective, is licensed under
the Creative Commons License, and is free to
download or listen to on their site.

Blur & David

I love Blur and I love David Shrigley. And I really love it when they work together.
